Get Ready for a Nail-biting Grand Finale in Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa..

The much-awaited Final of Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa-Dancing with the Stars is finally here after 14 grueling weeks of hard work by the contestants. The top three contestants in the finals are Sandhya Mridul and Javed, Prachi Desai and Deepak and Jay Bhanushali and Bindi and now all three are ready to prove why they should be the winner.

Friday will be the last day for the three contestants to perform and they are made to face some real acid tests to prove their dancing skills. In the first round, the judges have challenged each contestant to do what they have never done on the show before, so you have Shiamak's challenge to Sandhya to attempt a mujra while Jay turns into 'Jaya' (woman) given by the ravishing Urmila, and Jeetuji's challenge to Prachi is to dance on item numbers.

In the second round, all finalists prove their worth without their choreographers and then the three finalists perform together.

To grace the special occasion on Friday the special guest is the beautiful Katrina Kaif. She has a challenge for the finalists. They all have to perform the same two songs of her choice: they being Jhooth bole kauva kaate… and Jaane jaan you are my love… All three make sure to give full justice to the performance. The judges have given their verdict. But much depends on who will be the people's choice as the winner?

But this is not the end. There's more in store on Saturday on the Grand Finale. All the participants of Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa will make a grand comeback to the stage that made them household names. It is the Day of the Judgment - Saturday, December 15, 9.00 p.m. The crowning moment will come from the special guest of the evening, Akshay Kumar and Katrina Kaif, who will soon be seen in the film Welcome.

The dance floor is dazzling with colorful lights, there's music in the air, and anticipation and expectations take over as the curtain goes up to the Grand finale. Jeetendra, Urmila Matondkar & Shiamak Davar, the erstwhile judges’ dance their way onto the glittering stage. The three finalists each take turn to showcase their best. For the finalists, there's solo dancing, dancing with their choreographers, dancing with judges, while the other highlights will be some electrifying performances by Tapur Chaterji, Cyrus, Rohit & Mona.

If this is not grand enough, you got to watch Jeetendra rocking with the three beauties, Sudha Chandran, Mini Mathur & Sonali Kulkarni; Urmila's sizzling performance will leave the viewers breathless and icing on the cake is Shiamak Davar on stage doing what he loves best dancing with the bevy of beauties like Mini, Tapur, Sandhya. Jay Bhanushali disappointed with audience support

Jay Bhanushali, one of the 3 finalist of Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa is quite disappointed at the lack of audience support. "When ever I go out, people say that we love your dance and always vote for you. But unfortunately when it comes to elimination round, I always land up in the dock! In fact, once when I was in the safe zone, I complained to the creative team, that please don't get me out of the groove", says Jay..

This Guju boy admitted that most of his supporters were girls. "But I would even want guys to vote for me", he laughed. When asked what inspires him to do those great Salsa and Jive moves, he says the fear of going out makes him go berserk on the gala night! "All the good industry dancers get into my system", says the chirpy actor.

Any hints on what you will be doing for Friday's final? "A never before avatar,is all I will say at the moment", was his answer. A little birdie told us that Jay has shaved his entire body for one of the 3 performances for the Finale, where he will don a woman's avatar.

Sudha says she has grown in Jhalak while Uma says he will be honest he expected to be in the show for more 3-4 weeks. He would take this opportunity to thank Sudha & says she is a winner.

Rohit n mona started d show with dancing on aankhon ki gustakhiyan...after dat dey told d jodi 2 come!

Sonali dance on salaam-e- ishq- judges dint like dere peformance much n dey got 20 points!

Sonam kapoor n ranbir kapoor, was d guest judge......deyy came on stage n danced on sawaariya! urmila just throwed flying kiss 2 dem... jeetu said dhamaal!!Sonam says i m excited + nervous i just hope my film works for my father!

nichole, ronit came on stage..d judges asked can u dance nichole??as she is having internal bleeding... ronit said i started my dancing with her n i will dance with her till i will stay here !sonam told nichole taught me salsa! ronit danced on jab se tere naina from sawwariya!nichol internal bleeding started but ronit didnt let her dance so much! Sonam just hugged her..
ranbir told first in dis song i ahve2 open curtains but d curtain fall on my head!.....sonam told very romantic n sensaional!

mika danced on lets do balle... jeetu n urmila liked dere performance,he got 22 points! mika told dat when urmila give her comments i think dat she is telling i luv u.... urmila laughs n does d acting of vomitting

Sudha danced on bheegay hont tere!urmila said spirit was less!overall good performance,jeetu liked it...shaimak told i like everytime sudha`s performance...but 2day iwas disappointed by the chereography!shaimak said but i still luv u not becoz i pitty u for ur leg!but seroiusly!!! sudha got 23 points... shaimak gave her 7, urmil gave 8..so as jeetu!

Rishi kapoor,neetu singh n Anil kapoor were d guest judges!

starts with Cyrus he danced on "ticket 2 hollywood"!

Shiamak n Jeetu dint liked his performace much he got 19 points!

Prachi desai danced on "O mere sapna k saudagar"!all loved her performance, naman n prachi`s mom came 2 see her performance.....naman tells dat from dis song i remember d scene of kasam se shoot when we were shooting for dis song i have 2 kiss on prachi`s cheek but she was very shy @ dat time! prachi says i m still shy...n all laughs! prachi got 27 points!

3rd came Jay he did a blind act dance! all luved his performance, jay told 2 anil kapoor dat sonam n i was in d same class! jay asked neetu 2 dance with him....she danced with him....jay got 25 points!!! jay danced on paisa phenk tamasha dekh!

next was ronit roy...he dance "tum or hum hum or tum"!jeetendra doesnt like hiis performance much n was disappointed.... rohit hugged ronit n told i just missed my dad 2day rohit cried....... other judges liked his performance he 2 got 25 points!!!

jeetu n rishi came n danced on d stage after so many years... urmila also joined dem..anil kaoppr goes on stage n finds earing of urmila dere!he gives back 2 urmila!urmila laughed n said my shoes was not on stage(like cindrella) but my earing was there!

Sandya danced on kuch na kaho!anil kapoor acted dat how in dis song i have 2 kiss manisha! he tells u missed it d kiss in dis song...sandya tells my mom is here.... anil tells dat we have many retakes for d kissing scenes n retakes was abt 22 times..anil kapoor further tells i have 2 hold manisha in 1 scene but i fall when i picked her.....! all just luved sandhya`s peformance sandya requested 2 dance with her on my name is lakhan!konkona came n gave surprised 2 sandhya! she got 28 points marks! urmila gave her 10!!

Sudha was next she danced on paisa paisa! shiamak was telling in english which anil translated in hindi shaimak told 1 shaer for sudha! jeetu gave 10 2 sudha ..she got 28 points!

negi danced on yeh jo mohabbat hai! his danced was beautiful!judges said beautiful!!shaimak said u was lit bit nervous!he got 23 points!

sonali was next she danced on meri deewani! she got very good comments..shaimak said affreen means beautiful she got 26 points

mika was next,mika said i dont care wht judges think of me!!! mika danced on ganpat,mika danced quite good....if i m not wrong mika have sung this song???n he did again dat neck hilana act!lolzzzzzzzz....no offence 2 his fans!!!!
jeetu said we dont criticise u when u do good we say u r good! n u r progressing...urmila said i will not say anything in my comments as mika judge by himself..... mika said urmila comments r good as she always encourages us sumtimes in punjabi sumtimes in english!he says i m a big fan of urmila , shaimak said u did good becoz of us..as we r judges we tell u whts wrong n whts right!shaimak said u reapeated thrice dat i dont care wht d judges said....shaimak wa sangry with mika!

start with mona n rohit comes , after dat dey call all d judges 1 by 1!... mona n rohit calls all d contestants!....

the theme was samba dance..n dey chereographers danced n showed d samba dance!

1 contestant was sandya ..dey show her flashbacks of dancing n dere vivek oberoi came 2 meet her...she sees him n becomes happy.. vivek wishes her all d best...sandya tells he is my bestfrnd!

sandya comes for dance performance with javed (cheoreographer) she danced on kiss of love from jbj.. she did a fab dance!

coments by judges, jeetendra like her performance n gave her 8 points, shiamak aslo said fab but complained 1 thing... dat u were slipping so much... just b careful, he gave her 7, n urmila said performance n she gave 8..... her equal marks was 23!

next contesant was jay..... dey showed d rehearsal where, mini said he is a big flirt.... jay says minni is really cute n sweet...jay says minni is my hrithik..n minni says he is my ceileena jaitley! now d performance turn! dey danced on janay bhi do yaaro from hey baby!.... all liked his performance ..he got 7 from shiamak.... 8 from urmila n 7 from jeetu! n total makes it 22!

next contestant dey showed is minni mathur! dey showed her in rehearsal where says everytime while rehearsing i fall but i never loose hope n my cheoreographer is very good ..i have a comfort level with him! now d performance turn she danced on crazy kiya re.... all liked her performance..but i thought she was really slow! she got 21! jeetu said u told dat u can compare very easily.. but now u can dance even when u r sleeping! minni says yes first i was scared 2 dance but now i loved it.. her cheorographer said dat she calls me in d morning @ 5 n tells come for rehearsals....!

next contestant was mika.. he comes with her cheorographer n dances on kitna akarti hai from d film khiladi!...jeetu said he did a good dance last time he was not wearing good clothes also but 2day he is looking liks a dancer, n other judges also told dat very good performance!mika says last time i was angry dats y i have done hardwork...shiamak says much improvement...... mika says 2 urmila dat i m big fan of urs..n tries2 flirt with her!he sings song..he sings humsay dosti karlo..so urmila also sings humnay tumsay dosti karli!n shakes hand with mika!now scores time.. shaimak gave him 7 so is urmila... jeetu 2 gave 7..his total marks was 21!

next contestant was prachi desai....dey showed her rehearsal where her cheoreogrpher was upset with her..as prachi doesnt takes dance serioulsy... but he says she gets less time but we will try our best , n now d performannce turn..prachi n deepak (cheoreogrpher) danced on mahiya from the train! she danced quite well..@ d end of performance she started crying becoz she thought she was stiff... urmila gives her thumbs up n told last time i dint saw prachi dancing it was only bani! but 2day u was dancing like a girl who dance on brazil roads! jeetu said superb..shiamak says deepak have changed u in a super star! shiamak says tumhara paseena chamkega ..mona ask r u happy..prachi says yes! mona ask b4r ur performace u was abt 2 cry..prachi say si become nervous.. shiamak gave her 7, urmila 8..jeetu gives 8... dat makes 23!

next was adesh srivastav..dey showed his rehearsal..where she says ur eneergy level was very slow... adesh says dont teach me so her cheoreographer starts crying... so adesh sees her n starts 2 dance more efficiently!... dey dance on badaltay sitaray lapaytay huay! he danced very boring!urmila said u remind me of shammi kapoor... shaimak davar says 2 tina(cheoreographer) despite u have a fever u gave us fever ...very nice! jeetu also said good n gave 2 examples!adesh in d green room sang song for urmila urmila o urmila..he says i was quite tensed b4r!...shiamak gave 7 urmila gave 7 jeetu gave 7n its makes 21!

next was sudha chandra..dey showed her rehearsals where ..she was dancing quite good..his cheoreogrpaher told i compromise sometimes but she is a good dancer! dey comes for a dance!she danced on leke pehla pehla pyaar..she is dancing very well!shiamak said jhakas....shiamk says wonderful!urmila goes 2 her n gives her a flower!she says i dont have words 2 say..superb! ..she got 9 from shiamak ,9 from urmila n 8 from jeetu..his toltal scoreswas 26!

next was cyrus..dey showed him rehearsing seriously!now d dance turn he danced on julie julie!urmila was laughing n said lovely,she compliments his chereographer...shiamak says very good!but u can improve more! jeetu also says very very good!~!in d green room cryrus said i went for hair dressing! scores turn...shaimak gave 7 urmila 7 n jeetu also 7...dat makes 21!

sonali was d next contestant..dey showed her rehearsals!his chereographer told see in my eyes!sonali becomes upset as she is not able 2 dance..she says i m quite tensed as d judges have expectations from me... dey come for dance on ek ajnabee!from d film ek ajnabi!!!rohit says 2 dem jeetu waswiating for u..jeetu says very good dance! sonali says for d 1st time have weared tigered dress! urmila says u r dignified n graceful! urmila said it was quite well!shaimak said u was good but u was shaking ur hip but ur chereographer was doing someother dance..but u did a good performance!shiamak gave 7, urmila gave 8,jeetu gave 8! dat makes 23!

next was negi....dey showed d rehearsals!negi says d dance is
quite tough! d chereographer said him 2 do uthak baithak!..now d dance turn dey danced on!o jaana from tere naam,he danced very slow i mean no movement!shiamak says ur danced was good but last time ur performance was more powerful...jeetu says brilliant,i dont know whether u r teacher or he is ur teacher.... urmila says i liked ur performance!shiamak gave 7,urmila 8,jeetu gave 9!

next is tapur..in her rehearsals...d chereographer changed dance steps in last minute..she got irritated....now d dance turn....she danced on aisajadu daala re remix from khakkee... she is doing a fantastic dance!urmila said superb,she says u did a samba walk very good as its not easy!jeetu says is it was u or ur sister? wht u danced last time was not ur dance she did a fab job..shiamak said mind blowing improvement n he gave her a kiss!urmila gives her a name piethan!shiamak davar gave 8,urmila 8 jeetu gave 8! last time she got 15 n she cried on dat time!

next is ronit`s turn..dey were doing d rehearsals when..ronit says when she says something 2 me i aagree on dat den y when i tell her something she disagrees.... d chereographer says he is so stubborn...ronit says u r also stubborn ..now dey dance on oh haseena zulfoo wali janay jahan!urmila says foot work was less..over all performance was tremendus! jeetu says gr8! shaimak said much much better, he says lit bit steps was missing... but i like ur performance...ronit said my chereographer was unwell.. n 2 dat time iwas dancing..but i will keep in mind next time 2 dance well! ronit gets a surprise... neelam n his daughter comes..n he gets happy!dey ask neelam how was d dance? neelam says good!ronit says i thought i got ferrari as a surprise!..now d scores time! shiamak gave 8,urmila 9 jeetu gave 8 n total was 25!

Brishti pore tapur tupur (Pitter-patter falls the rain). The line from Rabindranath Tagore poem inspired Tapur’s grandfather to name his twin granddaughters. This 5’ 8” tall girl is a very popular model. Besides commercials like Titan Raga watches, Lakme and Park Avenue, she also appeared on the covers of magazines like Femina, Elle and Cosmopolitan.

A former Miss India semi-finalist, she did commercial art in college and even won a Nation Award for painting. For now modelling interests her. But the moment boredom sets in Tapur plans to move onto greener pastures. And that does not include Bollywood.

About Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa, she says: “I am a Bengali but Mumbai is my jaan," she says. "Dancing is also my jaan. Frankly, I don't know how to dance well, but I would like to give it a try."

Sudha Chandran

Sudha Chandran is a classic case of will power overcoming disability. Though she lost a leg in an accident in 1982, she rose above her tragedy and became an acclaimed Bharatanatyam dancer with the help of a prosthetic Jaipur leg.

She first came on the big screen to enact her own life story in filmmaker Ramoji Rao’s film Mayuri. This was remade in Hindi as Nache Mayuri and soon she began getting offers. But her film career never took off. She was reduced to playing the sister or the bhabhi.

Then she was offered the serial Saahil, where she was noticed again. She went on to anchor Shriman Shrimati, which was directed by Rajan Wagdhare. Wagdhare was so impressed with her wacky sense of humour that he repeated her in another serial, Kabhi Idhar Kabhi Udhar, opposite Shekhar Suman.

There followed a string of serials, but it was her character, Ramola Sikand, in Ekta Kapoor’s Kahin Kissi Roz that made her popular with today’s youth. "Classical dance is different from western dance," Sudha says. "Jhalak is more western. So I have to unlearn a lot of classical dance to adapt to this form."

Sonali Kulkarni is among the most talented actresses of Bollywood. She got hooked to theatre after she attended a workshop by Satyadev Dubey. Later she established Samanvay, a theatre group, with her brother Sandesh in Pune.

She got her first break in Girish Karnad’s film Cheluvi. But she truly arrived with Farhan Akhtar's Dil Chahta Hai. A spate of films like Daayra, Doghi, Taxi No. 9211, Agni Varsha, Darna Zaroori Hai, Pyar Tune Kya Kiya and White Rainbow followed.

Jack of all trades, but master of one—that describes Ronit Roy best. When he first came to Mumbai, he lived and worked with Subhash Ghai for a year. He also tried his hand at being a management trainee for a short time. But management left him uninspired and he quit his job and joined Ghai full time as an assistant director.

When he realised directing was not for him, Ronit joined Sanjiv Sharma and Mansoor Khan’s company, Pilot Communication, to learn editing, photography and scriptwriting. Meanwhile, he turned model and did a few commercials and tried his hand at being a freelance editor. He also directed 25 episodes of Chitrahaar on Doordarshan.

He hit the silver screen with Jaan Tere Naam, which was a hit in 1992. But success was slow coming to him. The best introduction that can be given to this hockey coach is that he is the man who inspired the super hit Shah Rukh Khan-starrer Chak De India.

Negi’s life has been peppered with pitfalls. He was blamed for the 7-1 defeat at the hands of Pakistan in the 1982 Asian Games. Though he came back as a goalkeeping coach and helped India win the 1998 Asian Games gold at Bangkok, the federation sacked him. Then two years after he led the girls’ team to a gold at the 2002 Commonwealth Games, he lost his son in a road accident.

When things seemed to have hit rock bottom, something happened to change Negi’s life—a story was born out of his struggle. He had not been interested when the idea was first sounded to him. But after he went to the studio at the request of writer Jaideep Sahni and read the script, he was hooked. Producer Aditya Chopra convinced Negi that he was the man best suited to guide the filmmakers. He trained with the girls for six months and transformed them into the believable players they were in the movie.

Now this 51-year-old has taken on another challenge. "When they asked me to come on this show [Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa], I was surprised. In fact, one of the Chak De girls told me that it would be difficult for me to dance,” says Negi. “But then I said I would try and win the hearts of audience."

An MBA who had a satisfying job in advertising, Mini Mathur was an unlikely candidate for the small screen. A phone call from MTV (inviting her to the finals of an MTV VJ hunt) changed her life. After being a VJ for three years, Mini got the chance to host Tol Mol Ke Bol. She became so popular that she had first dibs jobs as an anchor. Then Indian Idol happened to her. The Bakra man is famous not only for putting his foot in his mouth, but also for putting it in theatre, veejaying, modelling, compering, hosting, and producing. This former MTV VJ made his debut at 14 in a desi version of Neil Simon's Brighton Memoirs. He came into limelight during St Xavier's Malhar festival. After he graduated, Cyrus went to the Lee Strasberg Acting Studio in New York where he studied acting for theatre. After returning to India, he acted in commercials, television serials and plays. His candid-camera show MTV Bakra catapulted him into every drawing room in India.

Now he hosts the programme The Week That Wasn't on CNN-IBN, besides dabbling in a whole bunch of other stuff, including theatre.

But there is also a serious side to him. For a very long time now, he has fought a personal battle against the killing of stray dogs in Mumbai. He holds awareness campaigns to ask people to adopt the dogs, donate money to help sterilise and vaccinate them, and to protect the dogs against municipality’s favoured way of killing them—painful electrocution.

Though Aadesh Srivastava used to compose music as a hobby, he was very undecided what he wanted to do with his life. In 1994 Sudhakar Bokadia signed him on for the film Kanyadaan, with Rishi Kapoor and Divya Bharati, but the film never saw the light of day.

Then Aadesh thought he would follow his head and become a doctor. But his heart got in the way and he decided to follow his passion instead. He moved to Mumbai, learnt to play the drums, and proceeded to gain a foothold in the industry by playing drums for stalwarts like O P Nayyar, Shankar-Jaikishen and Salil Choudhary. He assisted Laxmikant-Pyarelal for almost a decade before striking out on his own.

His first release was Aao Pyar Karen and one of its songs, Madhubala, became a hit. He had several near hits and misses before he established himself. In 1998, he was awarded the Filmfare award for best background score for Border.

He recently performed on the opening day of the Berlin Asia Pacific Film Festival. The festival will also screen Sanaa, a 13-minute film on child prostitution, which marks Aadesh’s debut as a director. Aadesh was also one of the judges on the musical reality show Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Challenge 2005 and is currently part of the jury on STAR Voice of India.

"I will dance with taal, but I will not be betaal,” says Aadesh. "I will also dance with lots of josh. It is an honour for me to be here [Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa]. My son told me that I could do it, so here I am."

Rohit Roy

Rohit Roy was a science graduate with dreams of doing his MBA in the US when fate led him down another road. When he did not get a student visa, Rohit took up the first job he got—as a salesman at a Zodiac store. Soon after, he began working as an assistant director to ad filmmaker Kunal Kapoor; he also took up offers to model. It was then that director Anant Balani spotted him and offered him the lead role in his film Jazbaat. Though the film didn’t do well, Rohit realised that acting was his true calling.

His next assignment—Rishabh Malhotra in the soap Swabhimaan—established him as a household name. Since then there has been no looking back. He acted in Zee TV’s Baat Ban Jaaye and directed 52 episodes of its second season. His stint as the brash scion of a political family in Sarrkkar won him kudos, while his role in Viraasat won him three awards—best actor, best dressed actor on TV and the Society Magazine Young Achiever’s award.

He has also hosted a number of live events and game shows like The Price is Right on Channel Nine, Dance Divas on Zoom, Sa Re Ga Ma on Zee, Houzee on Play TV, and is currently doing Wild Ten on Zee Music.

Rohit is one actor who has managed to straddle both TV and films with equal ease. He did films like Delhii Heights, Shootout at Lokhandwala and Dus Kahaniyan. Now Rohit wants to direct his first film by the end of the year.

Mona Singh

Mona Singh came to the forefront as Jasmeet Walia aka Jassi in the popular television serial Jassi Jaissi Koi Nahin (2003). "Whatever I have achieved today, whatever I am is because of the serial. The response has been phenomenal. I never thought it would be such a huge hit. I feel really lucky,” she says.

After Jassi…, Mona wanted to create an identity for herself as Mona Singh in showbiz. In 2006, she participated in Jhalak Dikhla Jaa (based on the internationally-renowned reality-based dance show Dancing with the Stars) and won.

Her current projects include hosting the Indian version of the popular international TV show Extreme Makeover. The Sony show will travel to five cities looking for people whose faces have been damaged or scarred at birth or in an accident. “We are looking for serious cases where faces have been damaged due to explosions or acid attacks. There are many people in India who hide such members of the family. We are here to change their lives forever,” said Mona.

Mona has also taken over from Mandira Bedi and will now host Extraa Shots on Set Max. She is very excited about her new role. “Once I started shooting for it, I realised it's quite a tough job. I have to speak and speak, and at the same time be camera-friendly,” she said.

Jeetendra aka Ravi Kapoor was born into a business family that dealt in jewellery. But he decided to break away from tradition. Filmmaker V Shantaram gave him his break in Bollywood in 1959 in his film Navrang. But Jeetendra’s true break came in 1964 when he bagged the lead role in Shantaram's Geet Gaya Pattharon Ne. He came into the limelight with Ravikant Nagaich's Farz in 1967. His clothes—tee shirt and white shoes—in the film’s song Mast Baharon Ka Main Aashiq made him a style icon.

Jeetendra starred in over 200 movies, from 1959 to 2005 (his last film was Ho Jaata Hai Pyaar) and he earned the nickname ‘Jumping Jack of Bollywood’ because of his lively dance moves.

Jeetendra and his wife Shobha have two children—Ekta and Tusshar. While Ekta, along with her father, runs Balaji Telefilms, Tusshar is making a name for himself as an actor.

Urmila Matondkar started her career as a child artist—the best known of her early movies was Masoom (1983). She made her film debut as an adult with the film NarasimhaDrohi in 1992. It is my sole nature and my soul nature, my only existence,” says Shiamak Davar, who runs Shiamak Davar's Institute for the Performing Arts (SDIPA), a renowned dancing school with branches in all major cities. At the dance school, dance programs are designed to work the parts of your body that need to build up strength and flexibility, gradually and according to each person’s body rhythm and temperament.

India’s leading choreographer has choreographed many stage shows and awards nights like IIFA, Stardust and Filmfare. He also represented India at world events including the World Economic Forum in Davos, the closing ceremony of the Commonwealth Games Melbourne 2006, the Indo-Japan Friendship Year 2007 inaugural event in Tokyo and the Indian Economic Forum in Rome, Italy.

Shiamak has choreographed for movies like Taal, Bunty aur Bubli, Dil To Pagal Hai, etc. His latest work can be seen in Dhoom 2 and the up-coming Sanjay Leela Bhansali film Sawaariya.

Shiamak is also a gifted singer and has performed with the legendary singer and songwriter Sting. His Hindi pop album Mohabbat Karle sold more than 1.2 million copies in India alone. He also sang the title song of Hrishikesh Mukerjee’s Jhoot Bole Kauwa Katte. Shiamak won the best music video award for Dil Chahe, which he directed, designed and choreographed.

Shiamak’s Victory Arts Foundation (a non-profit trust) also spreads the power of dance to underprivileged children—children who are infected with, affected by or vulnerable to HIV/ADIS, and physically or mentally challenged children.

This time too the contestants will perform before a live studio audience, judges and the entire viewing public to prove their mettle. This second season will witness three new judges who will bring a fresh new perspective to the show.

The eminent panel of judges are the 'Rangeela girl', who is a popular film actress and an electrifying dancer Urmila Matondkar, India's leading choreographer Shiamak Davar, who is the pioneer of a popular nationwide chain of dance academy in contemporary dance styles in India. The third judge is a stalwart of the film and television industry, once known as the Jumping Jack for his dancing skills, Jeetendra.

Television's handsome hunk and successful film actor Rohit Roy and last season's winner, Mona Singh will host the show. Together they will not only encourage the celebrity participants but also add to the dance fever on screen with their ability to entertain the viewers.

Mona Singh stole everyone's hearts with her act as plain Jane in Jassi Jaisi Koi Nahin. But the actress seems to be in no mood for another dai ly on television. "I don't think that anything bigger than Jassi can happen on the small screen," she says, quickly adding, "I don't see myself playing a mother to someone who is double my age."

Neither is she in a hurry to tie the knot with boyfriend Karan Oberoi. "Oh, there's still time for it," comes the standard reply For the time be . ing, she is busy doing reality shows. "I'm hosting and participating in lot of such programmes," she says.

Mona is hosting Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa. She says, "I won the competition last year so I know how difficult it gets for those who participate. I can relate to them well." She will also feature in another reality show, Extreme Makeover, starting next month. Her big screen plans? Pat came the reply, "There's a film I'm doing but can't talk about it now." The second season of the original reality based dance show format 'Jhalak Dikhla Jaa - Dancing With The Stars' is slated to be back on television screens every Friday and Saturday on Sony Entertainment Television. A press meet to brief the media about the show was held at the Grand Hyatt.

After a gap of nearly a year, another season of television shows featuring celebrities in their new 'avataar' as dancers is all set to send audiences all over India in thrall!
Close on the heels of Star Network announcing launch of third season of its dance reality show 'Nach Baliye', the Sony Entertainment television today announced the launch of second season of its celebrity dance show 'Jhalak Dikhla Ja'.

An Indian version of the highly successful US show 'Dancing with the Stars', a unique concept which pairs big celebrities not known for their dancing abilities with professional choreographers in a dance competition, 'Jhalak Dikhla Ja', in its second season, will feature celebrities like Indian Idol host Mini Mathur, famous dancer and TV actress Sodha Chandran, Punjabi Pop Singer Mika Singh, 'Bakra Boy' Cyrus Broacha, Music Director Aadesh Srivastava and former Indian Hockey Coach Mir Ranjan Negi.

To be aired from September 28 every Friday and Saturday at 9 pm, 'Jhalak Dikhla Jaa II' will see these celebrities with ''two left feet'' swirl and master different kind of dance forms - from rumba to salsa, cha cha to waltz and jive to tango in their bid to outfit their competitors on the show.

''Keeping in view the huge audience response to the first season of 'Jhalak Dikhla Jaa', which went on to become one of the most popular shows on Indian Television, we have made the show bigger and better. For, while the first season had eight celebrities vie with one another for the title of best dancer, the second season will present a line up of 12 celebrities paired with professional dancers who will take on the challenge. Also, the second season will present three new judges who will bring a new perspective to the show,''Executive Vice President and business head of Sony Entertainment television, Albert Almeida told mediapersons at a press meet here today.

Judging the participants will be an eminent panel of judges comprising of popular Bollywood actess and electrifying dancer Urmila Matondkar, India's leading choreographer Shiamak Davar and yesteryears' Bollywood dancing star Jeetendra, also lovingly called 'Jumping jack' for his dancing skills.

Hosting the show, which will fill the slot occupied by the music reality show Indian Idol, which reaches its finale this week, will be the winner of the first season of 'Jhalak Dikhla Jaa' Mona Singh (popularly know as Jassi of the popular show 'Jassi Jaisi Koi Nahin') and successful TV actor Rohit Roy.

Yesteryear's Hindi cinema hero fondly called 'jumping jack', Jeetendra, is most probably the third judge of Sony's reality talent hunt contest Jhalak Dikhla Jaa. Jazz dance expert and chorepographer Shaimak Davar is also slated to sign his contract for the show. They will appear along with Bollywood actress Urmila Matondkar as the judges.

A channel spokesperson says, "Talks are on with them, but the contracts have still to be signed. Shiamak has a few earlier commitments on a few days and we're trying to adjust those. A formal announcement will be made soon." The last edition had Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Shilpa Shetty and Farah Khan as the judges.

The show, produced by Synergy, is an adaptation of the international hit TV series Strictly Dancing with the Stars. The twelve participants in the second season are Ronit Roy, Cyrus Broacha, Sonali Kulkarni, Prachi Desai (Bani), Mika, Mir Ranjan Negi, Sandhya Mridul, Sudha Chandran, Aadesh Srivastav, Mini Mathur, Jay Bhanushali and Tapur Chatterjee.

Meanwhile, Sony has been conducting roadshows this month in the cities/towns that the participants belong to. The last one, this week, was at Nagpur with Sonali Kulkarni, in which she is believed to have wowed the residents of the city with her dance moves. This week, it is in Ahmedabad with Prachi Desai. With announcements on local radio stations and tickers running through cable TV, these shows are packed with audiences who come to watch their favourite star perform and plead for votes. These roadshows will culminate with all the twelve contestants coming to Mumbai to announce the show on September 21st.

Ronit Roy and Rohit Roy - the two names synonymous with success when it comes to television. Handsome, sexy and gorgeous, both have carved a niche and have a huge fan base. And they will now share the same platform. While the elder brother Ronit would be trying out his luck shaking his leg as a contestant, Rohit would hold centre stage with the mike as the host in the music reality show Jhalak Dhikla Ja.

Would Rohit feel partial towards his brother while seeing him perform? ‘ I don’t think Rohit can be partial there,’ smiles Ronit. ‘ He will have to treat all the contestants the same way.’

Rohit has no such inhibitions. ‘ Of course it’s natural that I will feel a bit biased towards Ronit. Everyone is allowed to have a favourite, mine happens to be Ronit. He is a fabulous dancer, and even if he was not my brother, I would have supported him just because of his dancing,’ Rohit admits in his usual guileless manner.

Will it be a family gathering of sorts? ‘ Yes, because I get so less time to spend with Rohit,’ affirms Ronit. ’It would be lovely to have some time together with him’.

‘Of course,’ enthuses the younger brother. ‘ I would definitely be there cheering for him when I am not hosting’.

The love and affection is evident in their voice as they speak of each other. ‘ Rohit is a very kind man, and a generous brother,’ reveals the usually reticent Ronit, the love in his voice unmistakable. ‘ I am sure he will be a terrific host.’

‘Ronit is more like a father to me, and I am really scared of him,’ confides the ever effervescent Roy junior, his words in direct contrast to the pride evident whenever he speaks of his dashing older brother. ‘I really hope he wins the competition. ‘

All the Ronit Roy fans hope so too. No matter who wins the competition, it sure is a win win situation for the Roy brothers fans out their who will now get more than a Jhalak of their favourite stars.

Mona replaces Shveta as anchor on 'Jhalak Dikhla Jaa 2'

Remember the fireworks between Mona Singh and Shveta Salve during Sony TV's last year's dance competition 'Jhalak Dikhla Jaa'? The battle hots up again as Shveta is ousted by Mona as the anchor of the second season of the show.

What happened? Shveta doesn't have a clue. But she isn't sulking either. 'These things happen. Yes, I was looking forward to it. But never mind,' Shveta told IANS.

Last year, both the ladies were poised to take away the winner's crown. Shveta with her dancing skills and Madhuri Dixit features was the judges' favourite. But Mona with her perseverance and warmth worked hard on herself and sneaked the crown from under Shveta's nose much to everyone surprise.

Ever since, the two women haven't exactly been seeing eye-to-eye.

A year later, feathers were about to be unruffled when Shveta was signed to co-host 'Jhalak Dikhla Jaa 2' with Rohit Roy. The duo was to replace Archana Puran Singh and Parmeet Sethi.

Now in a sudden and surprising development Shveta has been ousted from the anchor's chair, to be replaced by Mona.

Apparently, Mona was seen to have a warmer and more viewer-friendly personality than Shveta, hence the eleventh hour decision to replace the original choice.

Rohit said: 'I'm aware of the change. It will be interesting to see how the show goes.'

Mona coyly refused to comment.

But 'Jhalak 2' seems to be going through casting dilemmas from the start. While the show is poised to resume from the last week of September, none of the judges from the first season, namely Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Farah Khan and Shilpa Shetty, have agreed to return on the show.

Only one judge, Urmila Matondkar, has been confirmed. The second judge is likely to be Shiamak Davar.

As for the third, your guess is as good as mine.

Mini Mathur, Cyrus Broacha, Mika, Sonali Kukarni are some of the stars who will be seen participating in the show.
